The McGuires will cook, and you’re encouraged to bring your favorite dish as well to add to this spectacularly delicious meal! Pink Ribbon Good (PRG) supports breast and gynecological cancer survivors “from diagnosis through survivorship.” You can join their Small Town Christmas that also introduces their first ever Christmas Parade! Survivors/ Thrivers are the focus of the parade as they come through on the horse drawn carriage. After the parade, the night goes on with music, food, arts & crafts, and lighting a pink tree. You can come just to show support or invite the Survivors/ Thrivers you know. (Everything is free for Survivors/ Thrivers.)

4. El Mercadito at Budd Dairy “Toy Drive”

El Mercadito is a family-centric Mexican grocery with live mariachi and community events at Budd Dairy Food Hall. You have a chance to help out for the month of December while El Mercadito collects toys and donations for Buckeye Ranch. In this event, all donations will be entered into a raffle to win a $20 Mercadito Gift Certificate that can be used in any of our dates and locations with any vendor. (They’ll have a raffle winner every 2 hours.)

The idea is for you to “meet the makers, learn their stories, and support their dreams.”

8. Volunteer at the FACCES Fresh Market

If you’re up to it, come volunteer on the 2nd and/or 4th Wednesday each month The Family, Adolescent & Child Community Engagement Service (FACCES). This non-profit organization addresses “the lifestyle disparities that affect urban communities across Columbus, Ohio.” One of the ways they do this is through The Fresh Market, which is where locals can get fresh produce, toiletries, home goods, and other resources. You volunteer to help the community make the most of the experience.

1. Sponsor a Family with Home for Families

HFF helps families with housing, financial and educational stability. Family Sponsors receive a holiday wish list that includes a child’s top 3 items and a few of their interests. You shop for the child (family) and drop the unwrapped gifts at HFF where volunteers wrap the gifts and deliver them to the designated families.

2. Hope for the Holidays by The Buckeye Ranch

The Buckeye Ranch, a mental health organization for children and families, provides two main social good holiday programs. First you have “Hope for a Family” where you get matched with a family receiving services from The Buckeye Ranch and receive their Wish List. Second you have “Hope for a Youth” as part of their Residential Program where you receive a list of wants and needs from youth (ages 12 – 18) staying with HFF during the holidays.
